Mothers, Babies and Young Living Essential Oils

There are wonderful babies springing up all around during this time of year! It’s everyone’s goal to get this new life started out in a healthy way. Young Living Essential Oils has products that have been used by others for this very purpose! Dr. Gary Young designed an essential oil blend specially for his wife who was expecting! It’s called Gentle Baby $52.30-retail ($39.75-wholesale) and has been used for mothers,  stretch marks (his wife applied it before she gave birth and didn’t have stretch marks!), soothing, babies and children.

Let’s take the baby that has gas/colic as an example.

Some people use DiGize $42.11-retail ($32-whls.) and dilute down 1 drop of DiGize to 20 drops of carrier oil  (such as V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex, extra-virgin olive oil, or coconut oil). Then they use 1-3 drops of this solution on the tummy after their little one has eaten and as needed.

If I were the mom who breast-feeds her baby, I would also work on improving my health so I could pass the necessary support along to the child. Peppermint Essential Oil – Aromatherapy

Everyone loves the smell of Peppermint! It has a clean, fresh, minty aroma! But no one seems to know how to use Peppermint essential oil for aromatherapy. So I did a little studying and this is what I have found.

The Essential Oils Desk Reference talks about Peppermint on page 2.74. This is what it says:
“Medical Properties: Anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral, anti-parasitic (worms), anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, gallbladder/digestive stimulant, pain relieving, curbs appetite.”

“Uses: Rheumatism/arthritis, respiratory infections (pneumonia, tuberculosis, etc.), obesity, viral infections (herpes simplex, herpes zoster, cold sores, human papilloma virus, etc.), fungal infections/Candida, digestive problems, headaches, nausea, skin conditions (itchy skin, varicose veins, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis), scoliosis/lumbago/back problems.”

“Fragrant Influence: Purifying and stimulating to the conscious mind. Dr. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati found that inhaling peppermint oil increased mental accuracy by 28%. Alan Hirsch, MD, researched peppermint’s stimulation of the brain’s satiety center (ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus) to curb appetite. When inhaled, it improves/restores sense of taste by stimulating the trigeminal nerve. University of Kiel researchers found that peppermint blocked headache pain”

* Add a drop of peppermint essential oil to herbal tea to help aid normal digestion.
* Massage several drops of peppermint essential oil on the abdomen, place a drop on wrists, or inhale to soothe the minor stomach discomfort associated with travel.
* Rub one drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (careful to avoid contact with your eyes), and on the back of the neck to relieve head pressure.
* Place 2 drops of peppermint essential oil on the tongue and rub another drop of oil under the nose to help improve concentration and alertness.
* Apply peppermint essential oil to the back of the neck and shoulders throughout the day to keep energy up.
* Inhale peppermint essential oil, apply topically to your temples or neck, or put a drop on your tongue or in water to jump-start your morning routine.
* Diffuse or inhale peppermint essential oil mid-morning to curb the desire to snack.
* Inhale peppermint essential oil or rub a drop on to your abdomen to soothe minor stomach discomfort.

Q: Will the essential oils go bad?

A: 1. If you find an essential oil on the common market that has an expiration date, it is a good clue that it has additives and is not a pure essential oil. Adulterated essential oils are not therapeutic in nature and may even be harmful to you!
2. If you take good care of your Young Living essential oils (keep it in a cool, dark place with the cap on tightly) you can use it for years.

Q: Can I use too much of an essential oil?

A: Yes, you can use too much. If the book says to use 1 drop, it’s okay if you accidentally use 2 drops. But please don’t use 20 drops. Your body is a special instrument that can only utilize a certain amount of essential oil. Remember, 1 drop is very potent; think of how potent 10 drops are. Respect the oil.
